Delonix regia is a species of flowering plant that is native to Madagascar. It is recognized for its fern-like leaves and vibrant display of orange-red flowers during the summer. In many tropical regions of the world, it is grown as an ornamental tree and is known by various names such as royal poinciana, flamboyant, flame of the forest, or flame tree. While it typically has red flowers, there is a variety called Radhachura that has yellow flowers.
Delonix regia is endemic to the dry deciduous forests of Madagascar, but it has been introduced to tropical and subtropical regions worldwide. In its natural habitat, it is considered endangered, but it is widely cultivated in other areas and is considered naturalized in many of the locations where it is grown.
