Beixi Paper-cut Art Village (北溪剪紙藝術村)
Beixi Paper-cut Art Village in Huwei, Yunlin, uses paper-cut artworks to adorn the white walls of the community. This not only adds vibrancy to the old houses but also attracts many tourists who come to take pictures. The paper-cut paintings primarily depict traditional fables, zodiac signs, festivals, and other themes. Artist Zheng Yuandong led a group of students from Huwei University of Science and Technology to create these artworks together. Although the use of only red and white may seem simple, the paper-cut art itself is incredibly intricate and delicate.
Visitors can also participate in various DIY courses at the village:
Paper-cut DIY: This 30-minute activity costs 100NT.
Handmade paper from corn leaves: This 120-minute activity costs 150NT.
Paper Flower Diffuser Bottle: This 60-minute activity costs 250NT.
Additionally, there is a random place on the way to Tuku that is not listed on Google Maps, making it challenging to find unless stumbled upon by accident. This place features a miniature version of an old house.
