Tainan Christmas 2021 (Part I)

Some shopping malls in Tainan are ready to celebrate Christmas! Currently, only TS Mall and Shin Kong Mitsukoshi have Christmas decorations, but there will be more as Christmas approaches. In the beginning of December, Tainan City Hall will organize a Christmas market. I hope I'll have a chance to see it too.

Last year, Christmas events and decorations could also be seen at Chimei Museum, Far Eastern Store, and The Spring Park. Currently, there is nothing to be seen yet, and I haven't found any news about this year's decorations either.

TS Mall (南紡購物中心)

This year's theme is Snoopy. Besides the Christmas tree, there is a Snoopy sculpture saying "LOVE" with some gifts stacked behind it. The light show here is from 7 PM to 10 PM.

The decorations will be here until January 2nd, 2022.

Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Ximen Store (新光三越台南新天地)

The theme of this shopping mall is blocks. All the decorations are designed to look like they are built with blocks. Under the main Christmas tree, there is a tunnel with one wall made to be filled with blocks. It's really cool for kids, as they can decorate the wall and build anything they want.

The decorations will be here until January 2nd, 2022.

Hsinchu Christmas 2021

My husband went on a business trip to Hsinchu and took some Christmas pictures for me. It must look really beautiful at night with all the lights. It's a shame I can't see it in person.

I've seen some news that shopping malls in Tainan are getting ready for Christmas. I'm looking forward to taking a trip around to see the decorations!

The weather is getting colder now. We have already prepared our winter clothes and heater, although I hope we won't need them anytime soon. The daytime in Tainan is still fairly comfortable, with just occasional cold gusts of wind. I can still wear short sleeves. However, everything changes in the evening. Even when wearing trousers and a jacket, we sometimes feel a chill.

AMWF Couple: Our story in Immigration Bulletin!

Today we had special guests from the Immigration Bureau in Shanhua. We were informed beforehand that our story would be included in their monthly bulletin, but due to Covid-19, it wasn't released until recently. We are so happy!

A big thank you to the Immigration Bureau for helping promote our business and my little blog. They have supported us in getting featured in the news earlier this year and even on the local radio station.

A few months ago, we changed our household registration from Yunlin to Tainan. I feel incredibly happy to be a part of the Tainan community. Even though my Chinese skills still need improvement, everyone here is very welcoming. Tainan is my favorite place in Taiwan.

Additionally, it was my birthday yesterday. For the first time in 4 years, I received a birthday card from the government. Thank you, Tainan.

Dinning at All-you-can-eat Hot Pot in Yunlin - Chien-Yen Shabu Shabu 千葉火鍋

Happy birthday to me! Ah, I'm getting old... Sometimes I feel old, but I'm not even 30 yet.

We went to Chien-Yen Shabu Shabu (千葉火鍋) in Douliou, which is an all-you-can-eat hot pot restaurant. I used to avoid hot pot places, but for about a year now, I've been in love with hot pot restaurants. Well, maybe not all of them, but some are really nice.

Chien-Yen Shabu Shabu offers a wide variety of prepared dishes, cakes, ice creams, a salad bar, drinks, and, of course, a variety of food to cook in your hot pot soup! They also have a special soup flavor that I haven't seen in other shops - Mongolian hot pot. It combines sour and spicy flavors, although I couldn't really taste it that well. Maybe it's because I'm used to eating spicy or strongly flavored food.

The price for the all-you-can-eat experience is 399NT (+10% service fee). There is also car parking available in front of the building, and it's free if your order exceeds 500NT. As a birthday treat, you can get a 25% discount, and the person accompanying you gets 10% off. The discount is valid for the entire month.
