Happy New Year!
On Christmas Day, I saw a post about this event, but due to my husband's work, I couldn't visit it until today (January 1st). Luckily, we made it before the event ended, which was just 2 days later. This year, the opening time was very short, only 11 days, due to Covid-19 restrictions.
The event takes place at Tainan City Hall in Anping. Each district of Tainan prepared themed lanterns, showcasing what is popular in their respective areas. From Shanhua, where we currently live, there is a lantern symbolizing cows and strawberries. There are also some Christmas decorations inside the city hall buildings. As is the case in most places now, wearing masks, having temperature checks, and disinfection measures are in place before entering. I found the house with balloons tied to its chimney particularly beautiful, just like in the movie "Up."
